BALLS ARE TO MEN, WHAT PURSES ARE TO WOMEN

Posted in Articles on June 13, 2010 by loighe

“Balls are to men, what purses are to women.” Carrie Bradshaw.

I love bags…and to plainly say it that way feels like I am not giving the addiction, rather affection, great honor.  So let me poetically phrase it then…J’adore bags!

If men love their toys forever such as cars and guns, and some new ones like watches.  Ladies adore their collection of  bags, shoes, clothes and jewelry.  Just because you have a bag of every color and kind for every occasion, doesn’t mean you are obsess… It just means you have the “passion” for a colorful life. And it makes you happy and gay when you got one of them.

The best way to carry a brand is to uniform it all the way to your make-up kit. Every brand has its representative. Mine is my RL blue logo bags.

Next, is Michael Korrs…His bags, are just beautiful. I feel happy just knowing I have one! Laugh out Loud!!! I have no idea when I became a fan..i guess when I started watching him in Project Runway.

Then there is Coach..ahhh…very expensive, very functional and classic. When I went to the states…i stopped by to participate in the buzz of coach sale but never could afford one. I can’t stop thinking that for $500 I can already travel to an Asian country plus shopping money! That is how much one coach could cost. Oh, there are cheaper ones, and by cheap I mean $150 and up…but they are small. And I am a small girl with a big bag syndrome. So thanks to my sponsors, Kristine (my bestie) who gave me my camel leather coach and Marivic who passed on her brown logo coach bag.

Calvin Klein is another favorite.  Although, I don’t think handbags are his signature line…still I like it.

But, the purpose of this blog is the latest that I got today at Megamall. I would like to recommend the Singaporean line called Charles & Keith. Their bags are of good quality, pretty, and affordable. Their prices ranges from $40 to $100. What did I get? Their nude, charol tote that is wide, has an easy access and elegant.  Plus, I can put my mini note in it!!! Wonderful. The actual cost is only  $53. Sulit!

Underwear Where?

Posted in Articles on June 13, 2010 by loighe

I bought 20 pairs of the prettiest underwears ever! I am planning to brand all of my lengerie collection. I’ll start with the under garments. Panty and bra!!! Lol

So, let me make a blog about the UNDERWEAR PERSONALITY TYPES!

  • Granny Panties
Wow … granny panties? Really!? Yikes! If you wear granny panties, it’s either laundry day, or you like the security of a full-coverage panty. That’s cool … we won’t judge. Most likely you are all about feeling secure and comfortable. You tend to play it safe, but if you’d let yourself go once in awhile, you’d be surprised how silly you could be!
  • Keep It Brief
Most girls tend to wear bikini briefs and that’s because they are just the right fit between coverage and still being feminine. Not only that, but girls who wear bikini briefs tend to be flirty, silly and open-minded. The sky is the limit when it comes to fabric, colors and patterns. Let your imagination run wild, guys!
  • The Thong Song
If you love wearing thongs or g-strings, we can pretty much assume that you are obsessed with flossing. And isn’t that a healthier approach anyway? You don’t want gingivitis, after all. We’re guessing that’s the visible pantyline of our metaphor here. You’re the kind person who isn’t willing to show everything off to the world … yet.
  • About a Boy
We’re not going to say something obvious about how you’re more of a tomboy for wearing boy shorts. Whoops, we mean we ARE going to say that. You’re probably pretty athletic, and we’ve bet you’ve got a few sports bras in your drawer too. Just as long as you know where to draw the line between you and the boys (no jock straps), then we’re all good.
  • String It Up
You know you’re like a finely tuned guitar, all your strings in perfect tune … so why hide that? You’re all about letting the world see everything that other people might hide. And you’re not ashamed, even if you should be, because you’re comfortable in your own skin … which is good, cause you’re sure not comfortable in that “underwear.”

Pasted from <http://teens.aol.com/style/underwear-personality-types>

So, which one are you? As for me, nothing wrong with being a little of everything and a major on one. I am more of a keep it brief, low rise, lycra underwear. But occasionally I need my thongs and some strings. A new discovery is the boyleg types which are actually sexy and comfortable…no need to be scared getting categorized as one of the boys.

Discovering HP

Liesl is the name of my new toy. It’s an HP Mini Note laptop.

SPECS: HP2140 Mini Note, Atom N270/1.6 GHz – RAM 1GB – HDD 160 GB – GMA 950 Gigabit Ethernet – WLAN: Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, 802.11 a/b/g/n (draft) – Win  XP Home – 10.1″ Widescreen TFT 1024 x 576 – camera – Microsoft Office Ready.

I have tinkered my new Microsoft 2010 Beta One Note program and loving it. It  connects to the reason why I bought this laptop in the first place. A technology  notebook that is organized.

This feature is like carrying different notebooks to work or school. You can log and  save all your information in one neat folder. Not to mention the pictures or images,  video and music that you can insert in it. So this is even better than an ordinary  notebook! To someone like me who prefers to write because of the freedom it gives,  like doodling around your page,  this feature makes transitioning to technology very  easy.

I have not totally explored yet the potential of this new MS feature, but I sure am  excited!

Just an idea: Maybe I will transfer my journals here…

With a retail price of Php23,990, HP Mini 2140 isn’t the cheapest in the 10-inch category but it makes up all that with a great build and design.

Pet Peeve!

Posted in Articles on December 29, 2009 by loighe

A pet peeve (or pet hate) is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to them, to a greater degree than others may find it.

The focus is on ” pet “, meaning your favourite ONE complaint.

Mine has always been on tardiness. People’s lack of time concept. I hate it when i have to wait for someone for over 30 minutes. 15 minutes, tops – this should be the only allowance a person can have on lateness but i guess this is too corporate…so yeah, i can wait for someone running late for at least 30 minutes. But to have me wait for you for 3 hours? Nah…that’s bullshit! Normally, i disappear after 30 minutes. But to the very closest friends or family members, i guess i can occasionally stretch it to an irritating one hour. But gosh! Never for more than that. That is abuse on someone else’s appointment book.

This is an excerpt from Ms Dizon’s blog:

Many people struggle with punctuality. And though it may seem a simple matter of people being rude, it’s far more complex, says author Diana DeLonzor, who’s written a book, “Never Be Late Again: 7 Cures for the Punctually Challenged.”

“It’s really more than poor time management. It tends to be a lifelong pattern,” says DeLonzor, who lives in San Francisco and teaches punctuality seminars. “It’s something that goes across activities — most late people are late for everything.”

The toll can be heavy. Lost relationships, jobs, promotions. Missed movies, doctor’s appointments, concerts. Daily stress. A reputation for being flaky. Hits to self-esteem.

De Lonzor categorized the chronically late into 7:

The rationalizer has a hard time acknowledging responsibility for lateness and tends to blame outside circumstances.

The producer wants to squeeze as much into every minute as possible; they are always busy.

The deadliner subconsciously enjoys the last-minute sprint to the finish line; they feel more alive when running out of time.

The indulger exercises less self-control; tends to procrastinate.

The rebel resists authority and everyday rules; might run late as a form of control.

The absent-minded professor is easily distracted, forgetful and caught up in their own introspection.

The evader feels anxiety about his or her environment and tries to control it; their own needs or routine come before being on time.

I do get late…but not for more than an hour..unless i want to intentionally irritate people waiting for me.

Operation Clean-Up!

Posted in Articles on October 2, 2009 by loighe

Wanting to do more led to one final plan to help a colleague whose house was almost ruined by Ondoy. Wednesday, Oct 1, the training department decided to help Paul clean-up his house in Marikina. We planned carefully the day before: the supplies to bring and  tools to use. We met at Mcdonald’s Cubao, ate breakfast, bought water for Paul and parked the cars of Gian and Casey. We decided that it will be safer if we take the public commute to Marikina. We arrived around 9am. Wow! The place was a mess! Mud all over and smells bad too. After Paul narrated the horror of saturday with so much humor (he has the knack of turning tragic tales into one comedy act) we started our clean up plan. Since the inside of the house was more or less better and clean already, we dedicated our day to clean his garage and porch.

It was hardwork but a lot of fun…and kudos to our boys who had to go get water all the way from “bestfriend Danny’s” place because water supply was nil since all residences were cleaning up that day.

We had a delicious lunch, thanks to Casey’s superb cook. We finished our clean up by 1:00pm and started getting ready for home by 2:00. We would have wanted to stay longer and clean up more but water was already scarce. It felt good to help a friend that day. My body was sore that night (imagine the boys who did so much more) but i didn’t mind because i knew that we made someone happy by helping.

We Wanted to Help…

Posted in Articles on October 2, 2009 by loighe

It was Sunday, Sept 27, the day after Ondoy and still without electricity.  I called up Bibsy and invited myself to lunch at her place. I badly wanted to eat rice! I called up Gail also and extended the invite to her. They are my college friends, those i mentioned in my previous blog that live in Mandaluyong. My bestfriend just came by to pick up my frozen meat products to transfer them at her place to prevent spoilage.

During lunch, we shared our version of  “saturday” (the day Ondoy came) and realized that we were lucky that the wrath of this tropical depression (not even a storm yet) didn’t reach our residence. Then Gail mentioned that she felt so guilty because as she was buying provisions for her own supplies, the others at the supermarket were busy buying for those affected by the flood.  Which made us realize that all of us felt guilty that we were not doing anything to help. So we called up friends and asked for monetary donations from them. I called up Michelle and ate Maya to also help gather donations for us to be able to buy supplies. Overall we collected a total of 30,000. We bought 20 pcs of sleeping mats, 20 pcs of blankets, 20 pcs of bath and face towels, boxes of mineral water, canned goods, noodles, and milk for babies. Not to mention some biscuits and crackers too.  We brought all of these at La Salle greenhills. As we were unloading the items, we saw lots of cars driving by to lend their help also. That was inspiring…I felt good that i was able to help that day…but i wanted to do more…

Manila-StormKetsana01

I met 3 angels last saturday, September 26 (a day after my birthday).

I woke up around 5:00am to get ready for my trip to Imus Cavite. I am going to be a “ninang” to the confirmation of Nicole, my officemate’s daughter. It was drizzling and cold but nevertheless calm. The confirmation rights started at 7:15am with a seminar for all godparents. The church was full and the ceremony was beautiful. We finished around 10:30am. The rain was getting stronger. In fact, we all got wet as we ran to the parking lot but we felt that it was just another rainy day which has been the weather of Manila for the past months. We still pushed through with our plans to eat at Mall of Asia to obviously celebrate Nicole’s confirmation. We left for MOA around 11:00 but as we were getting nearer the coastal road we were already feeling the terrible traffic of cars going to Edsa and Alabang. But we were very typical that day…we trusted that things were just fine.

We finished lunch at 2:00pm and as i was nearing the taxi stand area i felt the impact of the weather. The cab drivers were all huddled discussing ONDOY and the havoc this storm has brought that day. No driver will take passengers out of the mall anymore because all roads were flooded either knee high or waist down. That was when i realized the dire state of my situation. I started to feel panic…then manong driver (my first angel) approached me. He has been wanting to go home for hours but couldn’t find the courage to start his journey. He is very worried because his family were flooded in Pasig. I assured him that we will be able to find our way out. All we needed was to  explore all possible routes to Mandaluyong (which was near his area also). Then as we tried each and every route possible we found ourselves stuck and getting more scared.

As we entered United Nations Avenue, i told him that i have given up and will just try another mode of transportation–the Light Rail Transit. The challenge though is how to get to the nearest station given that the flood was waist down. I was calculating my options at Manila Pavilion when i met my second angel. He was the side car driver who bravely waded the flood just so he can bring me to the nearest LRT station. I was wet with rain and dirty but i didn’t care. All i wanted was to go home. As i got up the station and saw the flooded streets below, with cars and buses abandoned in the middle…i started to feel anxious. What will happen to me? My friends are all living in Mandaluyong. What if i get stuck in a place that will bring more danger than safety? How will my family find me?…But, like any of the dangerous situations i found myself tangled with in the past, i again survived this because my resolve was pretty strong. I have to go home no matter what.

Crossing from the LRT to the MRT was another challenge. People were piled up the stairs and prone to stampede. I found myself praying that no trouble will occur that can cause unnecessary panic. Luckily, all went well. I met my third angel at the Taft Avenue MRT station. She was kind enough to buy a ticket for me which led to my not lining up in what otherwise could mean an hour-long of ticket line. I started my journey home at 5pm taking the MRT and was safely home by 5:30pm. It took me three and a half hours to go home but i didn’t mind as long as i was safe and secured.

I thought that the experience i went through was horrifying…then i saw the news. I felt like crying because other people are going through much worse and no one can help them… i prayed that night for everyone.

New York Moment!

Posted in Travels on September 5, 2009 by loighe

Aside from the Statue of Liberty to the famous Brooklyn bridge…New York is best experienced through its array of broadway musical shows. I can truly say that my best New York moment was watching THE WICKED. (Thanks to my friend who is a  broadway enthusiast…or on her way to becoming one anyway…) Phenomenal comes out very weak when describing the entire show.

Synopsis from the wickedmusical.com

WICKED tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely friendship between two girls who first meet as Sorcery Students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl, Elphaba.

Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroad and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

So i highly recommend that when you visit New York, include broadway shows in your itinerary.

High School…Why i can’t forget it…

Posted in Girlashes on September 4, 2009 by loighe

Friendship isn’t always easily described. The Eskimos, they say, have a hundred different words for snow. Unfortunately, the English language isn’t quite as innovative, though it has vast opportunities to differentiate meaning. Certainly, Love is one of those opportunities. And so, too, is Friendship.

Instead of different words, however, we’re stuck with simple adjectives. Close friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.

Friends are special people. We can’t pick our family, and we’re sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience) dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.  From: 100 all time poems.com

I would like to share the beautiful friendship developed among my high school friends. We graduated from high school last March 1991 and every year thereafter, during our December reunion, we get to reconnect and check on one another.

I am proud to say that we have maintained the same sets of friends 18 years later…truly a friendship worth celebrating.

High School days…to our reunion last year…
